Lagos CP Tijani Fatai Visits Army, Air Force and Navy Formations, Reaffirms Strong Inter-Agency Security Synergy
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, embarked on courtesy visits to key military formations in Lagos, including the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the 651 Base Service Group of the Nigerian Air Force, and the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft in Apapa, reaffirming commitment to enhanced inter-agency collaboration for improved security across the state.
COLLABORATION VISITS TO SECURITY FORMATIONS
At the 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, located at Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police was received by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi. Discussions focused on strengthening the existing partnership between both institutions in internal security operations and sustaining joint efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State.
The visit underscored the importance of continued military-police cooperation in addressing emerging security challenges within the state’s dynamic urban environment.
AIR FORCE ENGAGEMENT ON INTELLIGENCE AND OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
CP Tijani Fatai also visited the 651 Base Service Group Headquarters at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, where he was received by the Commanding Officer, Air Commodore M. A. Imam.
Both parties reviewed ongoing collaboration and emphasized the need for deeper coordination in intelligence sharing, operational support, professionalism, and proactive responses to security threats. The engagement further reinforced the importance of sustained synergy between the police and the Air Force in maintaining public safety.
NAVAL COLLABORATION ON MARITIME SECURITY
At the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Apapa, the Commissioner of Police was received by the Commander, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu. Deliberations centered on strengthening cooperation in the protection of Lagos waterways and enhancing coordinated responses to maritime security concerns.
Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to structured operational alignment, particularly in joint operations requiring multi-agency coordination.
CP REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO JOINT SECURITY EFFORTS
Speaking during the visits, CP Tijani Fatai emphasized that effective security management in a megacity like Lagos depends on seamless collaboration among all security agencies. He stressed that the Police and the Armed Forces must continue to operate in unity, guided by mutual respect and a shared responsibility to protect citizens and critical infrastructure.
