LSSTF CEO Ogunsan Urges Lagos Youths to Reject Crime, Cultism as CACCOV Expands Preventive Security Campaigns
The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, has called on youths across Lagos to steer clear of crime, cultism, and other social vices, as the agency intensifies its community-driven security initiative through the LSSTF Campaign Against Crimes, Cultism and Other Vices (LSSTF-CACCOV).
Speaking during a strategic implementation meeting with members of LSSTF-CACCOV, led by State Coordinator Dr. Moses Oladimeji, Ogunsan emphasized that the credibility and effectiveness of any security intervention depend largely on the integrity and discipline of those driving it.
He disclosed that the initiative will soon scale up its engagement with young people, beginning with a flagship Youth Security Awareness and Orientation Campaign scheduled to hold at Yaba College of Technology in May 2026. The outreach will target thousands of students and will be followed by a dedicated campaign on cybersecurity and digital safety.
Delivering a firm warning to members of the committee, Ogunsan stressed zero tolerance for misconduct, noting that any act capable of undermining the initiative’s credibility would attract immediate sanctions.
“You must conduct yourselves above reproach. The moment there is any allegation of wrongdoing, you will be disengaged. We will not allow anyone to tarnish the reputation of this organization,” he said, urging members to also avoid associations that could compromise their integrity.
The LSSTF-CACCOV programme is designed as a preventive, grassroots-oriented approach to addressing insecurity by constructively engaging youths and discouraging involvement in criminal activities. With Lagos widely regarded as Nigeria’s commercial hub, stakeholders continue to highlight the strong correlation between a secure environment and economic productivity.
Ogunsan further charged young people to take ownership of community safety by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities, noting that sustainable development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Dr. Oladimeji reaffirmed the group’s commitment to youth engagement and behavioural reorientation, stressing that crime prevention requires collective responsibility.
“Our focus is to positively engage youths, helping them resist crime and cultism so that communities can remain peaceful and conducive for growth. Security is fundamental to business success and career development,” he said.
Security analysts have consistently underscored the importance of investing in youth development—through education, mentorship, and entrepreneurship—as a strategic tool for reducing crime. By positioning young people as agents of change, LSSTF-CACCOV aims to promote a culture of responsibility, lawful conduct, and community cohesion.
Other officials present at the meeting included LSSTF Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis; Executive Assistant, Mrs. Adaobi Nwankwo; Assistant State Coordinator/General Secretary of LSSTF-CACCOV, Uzezi Akinwoleola; and heads of various departments within the initiative.
