Lagos Island LG Appoints Olabode Adeyeri as Chief Press Secretary to Chairman Oyekan

The Lagos Island Local Government has appointed Mr. Olabode Adeyeri as Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan, in a move aimed at strengthening strategic communication and public engagement.

The appointment, which takes effect from April 1, 2026, was approved by the chairman as part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and ensure effective dissemination of government policies and programmes.

Announcing the development, Oyekan said the decision underscores his administration’s commitment to responsive governance driven by clear and impactful communication.

“The appointment of Mr. Adeyeri is a deliberate step towards strengthening our engagement with the public and ensuring that our policies and programmes are communicated clearly and effectively,” he said.

He expressed confidence in Adeyeri’s capacity to deliver on the mandate, noting that his professional background in journalism and communications would significantly improve media relations and deepen public trust in the administration.

“We are confident that his wealth of experience in journalism and communications will further improve transparency and strengthen confidence in our government,” Oyekan added.

Adeyeri, a seasoned journalist and communications professional, brings a wealth of experience in media practice and public engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and a Master’s degree from the University of Lagos.

Between 2011 and 2018, he worked with Globacom Nigeria Limited, where he served as Corporate Support Executive and Glo 1 Business Support Executive.

He is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Citizen Communications Network, a role he has held since 2010, and currently serves as Publisher of Citizen Magazine and Citizen NewsNG.

Widely regarded as a prolific journalist and advocate for community development, Adeyeri is known for his result-driven approach and commitment to advancing progressive ideals.

Reaffirming confidence in the new appointee, the chairman stated that Adeyeri is expected to play a pivotal role in projecting the administration’s vision and strengthening the link between government and the people.
