NSCDC FCT Commandant Odumosu Warns Against Cybercrime, Exam Malpractice, Cautions Nigerian Youths on Social Vices
The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory Command, Olusola Odumosu, has raised concerns over the rising cases of cybercrime, examination malpractice, and the get-rich-quick mentality among Nigerian youths.
Odumosu expressed the concern when he received a delegation from the National Association of Northern Nigerian Students (NANNS) at the NSCDC FCT Command headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, the Commandant described the increasing involvement of young people in social vices as a major challenge requiring urgent collective action.
He noted that cybercrime, examination malpractice, and other related offenses were undermining the future of Nigerian youths and called for sustained sensitization and value reorientation.
Odumosu expressed appreciation to the student body for honouring him with an Award of Excellence, describing the recognition as a reflection of the efforts of his management team and personnel in strengthening security operations and youth engagement within the FCT.
He commended NANNS for its role in organising sensitization programmes, symposia, and advocacy initiatives aimed at discouraging social vices among students, noting that such partnerships are critical to national development.
The Commandant also reiterated the Corps’ readiness to deepen collaboration with student groups and other stakeholders to reduce criminal tendencies among youths and promote responsible citizenship.
Leader of the delegation, Ibrahim Isah Adamu, said the award was in recognition of Odumosu’s leadership qualities, dedication to national service, and commitment to youth development.
He added that the recognition also reflects the Commandant’s contributions to strengthening security operations and positively impacting society.
The visit featured the presentation of a Medal, Certificate of Appreciation, and an Award of Excellence to the NSCDC FCT Commandant.
