Olugbodi Family Announces Funeral Rites for Late Patriarch, Chief Joshua Oyedele Olugbodi











The Olugbodi family of Ara Kingdom in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State has announced the funeral arrangements for their patriarch, Chief Joshua Oyedele Olugbodi, who passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 94.

Chief Olugbodi, born in 1931, was widely respected as a community leader, philanthropist, and devout Christian whose life was defined by service, integrity, and dedication to humanity. He was a former senior executive at the Central Bank of Nigeria and also served as Chairman of Egbedore Local Government. In recognition of his contributions to his community, he held the traditional title of Bobagunwa of Ara Kingdom.

Family members and associates described the late patriarch as compassionate and selfless, noting that he devoted much of his life to community development and the upliftment of others.

In a statement issued on behalf of the family, his son, Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Marketing Communications Group and Asiwaju of Ara Kingdom, expressed grief over the loss while celebrating his father’s enduring legacy.

“We are deeply saddened by Baba’s passing and devastated by this loss. However, we are grateful to God for his extraordinary life of sacrifice, impact, and exemplary service to mankind. His legacy will live on through all of us,” he said.

The family has invited friends, associates, and well-wishers to participate in the funeral rites scheduled to hold in Ara Kingdom, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.

According to the announcement, a Night of Tributes will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, Ara Kingdom, at 4:00 p.m.

This will be followed by a Service of Songs on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the church’s multipurpose hall, also at 4:00 p.m.

The funeral service is slated for Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, Ara Kingdom, beginning at 11:00 a.m., after which interment and reception will follow.

The events are expected to draw dignitaries, community leaders, and well-wishers from across Osun State and beyond, as family and friends gather to celebrate the life and legacy of a man regarded as a pillar of his community.
