Plateau Trader Wins ₦5m Grand Prize in Nestlé’s Golden Morn ‘Golden Hunt’ Promo

A small-scale grocery trader in Plateau State, Ejiofor Akujieze, has emerged winner of the ₦5 million grand prize in the Golden MornGolden Hunt” consumer promotion organised by Nestlé Nigeria Plc, which rewarded Nigerians with a cumulative ₦80 million in cash and gifts.

Akujieze described the win as unexpected and transformative, noting that the funds would be channelled into expanding his retail pbusiness. “It came as a shock to me. I won ₦5 million, and it will go a long way. I am very grateful,” he said.

The nationwide campaign, which kicked off in January 2026, recorded widespread participation, attracting over 200,000 entries from consumers across the country. Structured around Golden Morn’s smaller, more affordable pack sizes, the initiative was designed to broaden access and encourage inclusivity.

At the conclusion of seven draws, a total of 16,324 winners emerged, receiving cash rewards ranging from ₦10,000 to ₦1 million. Other prizes included airtime, household appliances such as washing machines, premium gadgets like MacBooks and iPhones, as well as 55-inch television sets.

Speaking on the initiative, Omofasa Orhiunu, Category Manager for Healthy Cereals at Nestlé Nigeria, said the campaign aimed to deepen consumer engagement while offering added value.

“Golden Morn has been part of everyday life for Nigerian families, and with the Golden Hunt, we wanted more people to experience that. It gave both loyal and new consumers the opportunity to enjoy a nourishing product while being rewarded in a simple and accessible way,” he said.

Also commenting, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria Plc, Wassim Elhusseini, said the promotion underscores the company’s commitment to delivering value beyond its product offerings.

“For over 40 years, Golden Morn has nourished Nigerian families and earned their trust. The Golden Hunt was our way of recognising that trust and giving back in a meaningful and inclusive manner. What stands out most are the real-life impact stories behind the wins,” he said.

Golden Morn, a widely consumed cereal brand in Nigeria, is produced from locally sourced grains and fortified with essential vitamins and minerals under its Grain Smart formulation to support energy and overall wellbeing.

Industry observers note that campaigns such as the Golden Hunt highlight growing competition in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods sector, with brands increasingly leveraging consumer promotions to drive engagement, loyalty, and market penetration.
