Zone 2 Police Arrest Seven Over Multiple Murders, Armed Robbery; Recover Firearms, Weapons in Lagos Raid
The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Zonal Headquarters, has recorded a major breakthrough in its crackdown on violent crimes with the arrest of seven suspects linked to multiple cases of murder, armed robbery, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms in Lagos State.
The operation, led under the supervision of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, was executed by operatives of the Zonal Puff Adder team following credible intelligence.
According to a statement issued by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Afolayan Gbenga, the breakthrough began on March 3, 2026, with the arrest of a prime suspect, Fawas Opeyemi Alarape (23), also known as “Karube,” who is alleged to have been involved in multiple violent crimes.
Information obtained during interrogation led operatives to a notorious criminal hideout known as “Lion’s Den” in Adeleye Street, Orile Iganmu, where five additional suspects were apprehended. Another suspect was later arrested at White Sand area of the same locality.
Items recovered during the raid include a locally made cut-to-size shotgun, four cutlasses, a knife, a claw hammer, four live cartridges, three expended cartridges, and assorted charms.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to several killings in different parts of Lagos. Among the cases is the murder of a tricycle operator at Shitta Under Bridge in Surulere, who was reportedly robbed and killed. The suspects were also linked to other killings in the Orile Iganmu area in February 2026.
The police noted that one accomplice, identified as Ahmed Oladele, also known as “Small Messi,” remains at large.
All suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. The police said they will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
AIG Jimoh commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, reiterating the command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents across Lagos and Ogun States.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to support law enforcement efforts.
