The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across Nigeria, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to personnel welfare, career advancement, and enhanced service delivery.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the immediate promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across various ranks in the Nigeria Police Force as part of ongoing efforts to improve personnel welfare, boost morale, and reward professionalism, diligence, and dedication to duty.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid.
According to the statement, the promotion exercise cuts across commands and formations nationwide and includes the elevation of 165 Sergeants to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals to the rank of Sergeant, and 17,714 Constables to the rank of Corporal.
The police leadership described the exercise as a significant step towards strengthening the Force's human resource management framework and motivating officers to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities.
IGP Disu noted that timely promotion remains a vital component of personnel development and an effective tool for encouraging professionalism and excellence within the Force.
He emphasized that the promotion of deserving officers reflects the commitment of the current police leadership to merit-based advancement, career progression, and institutional growth.
