NCSP Marks Workers’ Day 2026, Advocates Dignity, Skills Development, and Inclusive Growth

The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) has commemorated International Workers’ Day 2026 with a strong call for dignity in labour, enhanced collaboration, and inclusive economic growth, emphasizing the critical role of workers in driving Nigeria’s development and strengthening bilateral ties with China.

As Nigeria joined the global community to celebrate Workers’ Day, the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) highlighted the importance of human capital in achieving sustainable economic transformation and deepening cooperation between both nations.

The organisation noted that this year’s commemoration goes beyond recognising the contributions of workers, stressing that long-term development can only be sustained through deliberate investment in people. It maintained that access to opportunities, skills development, inclusiveness, and equitable systems are key to unlocking the full potential of the workforce and ensuring shared prosperity.

Director-General of NCSP, Joseph Tegbe, underscored the central role of workers in shaping the future of Nigeria–China relations. He stated that the progress recorded in bilateral engagements has been driven by individuals whose expertise, dedication, and collaborative efforts translate strategic vision into measurable outcomes.

Tegbe further emphasised that discussions around workers’ welfare and dignity must go beyond rhetoric, calling for practical steps that guarantee access to innovation, capacity building, and systems that enable workers to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.

Through its ongoing engagements, NCSP continues to bridge Nigerian talent with Chinese technical expertise, fostering industrial expansion and economic diversification. The organisation disclosed that it has secured investment commitments in critical sectors, including agriculture, automotive manufacturing, mining, steel production, and energy.

According to NCSP, these initiatives align with its broader objective of building transformative partnerships capable of delivering sustainable value and accelerating Nigeria’s development.

The partnership reaffirmed its commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation that not only strengthens economic ties but also improves livelihoods, empowers communities, and promotes inclusive, people-centred growth in an evolving global workforce landscape.
