Police Officers Rescue Accident Victim Abandoned on Rain-Soaked Nasarawa Highway
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) have been commended for rescuing a motorist involved in a lone accident along the Nassarawa Eggon–Akwanga Road in Nasarawa State.
The incident occurred at about 5:12 p.m. on May 27, 2026, during a heavy downpour when a black Toyota Camry with registration number ABC-327-MQ reportedly lost control and crashed.
The driver, identified as Suleiman Hamidu, popularly known as “Durbi,” was reportedly thrown out of the vehicle by the impact and left severely injured by the roadside.
According to eyewitnesses, several motorists allegedly passed the accident scene without stopping to render assistance.
However, a team of police officers attached to the Threat Response Unit of the NPF-NCCC, who were returning from an official assignment in Otukpo, Benue State to Abuja, stopped to rescue the victim.
The officers, led by CSP Ayuba Nehemiah, immediately arranged for the evacuation of the injured man to the General Hospital in Nassarawa Eggon using a commercial tricycle.
Sources disclosed that upon arrival at the hospital, CSP Ayuba identified himself to medical personnel and personally paid for the victim’s initial emergency treatment to ensure immediate medical attention.
The police team also contacted the Divisional Police Officer of Nassarawa Eggon Division, Ashi Musa, to facilitate further support and intervention, while the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) was alerted to assist with traffic management around the accident scene.
The officers subsequently traced and contacted the victim’s daughter, Aisha Nana, informing the family about the incident and his condition.
As of the time of filing this report, the victim was said to be stable and receiving treatment at the hospital.
The action of the officers has drawn praise from residents and observers, with many describing the rescue effort as a demonstration of compassion, professionalism, and commitment to public service by the Nigeria Police Force.
