Workers’ Day 2026: Lagos APC Chairman Ojelabi Hails Workers’ Contributions, Reaffirms Commitment to Welfare
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Hon. (Pastor) Cornelius Ojelabi, has commended workers across the state for their invaluable contributions to economic growth and societal development, describing their role as “unquantifiable.”
In a statement marking Workers’ Day on May 1, 2026, Ojelabi lauded the resilience, dedication, and sacrifices of workers, noting that their efforts remain central to Lagos’ reputation as a vibrant and progressive state.
He described Workers’ Day as an important occasion to recognise the dignity of labour and celebrate the achievements of workers, whose commitment continues to sustain the state’s growth and development.
According to him, Lagos workers have consistently served as the backbone of the state’s progress since the return to democratic governance, contributing significantly to milestones recorded over the years.
Ojelabi also highlighted the role of workers in national development, stating that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, their contributions have helped drive stability and economic advancement.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to workers’ welfare, the APC chairman said the government remains focused on ensuring prompt payment of wages and improving labour standards in line with global best practices.
He further commended Lagos residents, including youths and women, for their continued belief in progress and dedication to nation-building, noting that their collective efforts inspire confidence in a brighter future.
Ojelabi expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between the government and the workforce would further strengthen Lagos and Nigeria’s development, urging workers to remain steadfast in their contributions to societal growth.
