Fifth Anniversary: Journalist Hails TB Joshua's Legacy, Describes Late Cleric as Influential Christian Leader
As activities marking the fifth anniversary of the passing of founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, continue across different parts of the world, Lagos-based journalist and public affairs analyst, Dare Adejumo, has paid tribute to the late cleric, describing him as one of the most influential Christian leaders of his generation.
A Lagos-based journalist, public analyst and media consultant, Dare Adejumo, has reflected on the life and legacy of the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of his passing.
In a tribute released to commemorate the anniversary, Adejumo described the late cleric as a remarkable spiritual figure whose influence transcended national and continental boundaries.
According to him, TB Joshua's ministry left a lasting impact on millions of people through evangelism, humanitarian interventions, counselling, healing services and charitable activities.
The journalist recalled encounters and testimonies from individuals who believed their perception of the late prophet changed after his death. He cited the account of a Christian woman, Florence Olowokere, who said she regretted previously holding negative views about the cleric and later came to appreciate his contributions to Christianity.
Adejumo argued that TB Joshua remained misunderstood by many during his lifetime despite attracting a large global following. He noted that the late preacher's teachings centred on faith, love, humility, compassion and a personal relationship with God.
He further described the late SCOAN founder as a strong advocate of Christian unity, saying Joshua consistently encouraged cooperation among churches and discouraged unhealthy rivalry among religious leaders.
According to the tribute, TB Joshua's humanitarian activities extended beyond the church, as he was known for supporting vulnerable individuals, assisting people affected by crises and providing aid to those in need both within and outside Nigeria.
Adejumo also highlighted what he described as the prophet's commitment to selfless service, noting that his ministry attracted followers from different countries, cultures and religious backgrounds.
The media consultant commended the current leadership of SCOAN under Pastor Evelyn Joshua, widow of the late cleric, for sustaining and expanding the ministry's programmes and charitable initiatives since his passing.
He maintained that TB Joshua's influence continues to be felt globally through the lives he touched and the institutions he established.
As Christians and admirers across the world mark the fifth anniversary of his death, Adejumo said the occasion serves as an opportunity to reflect on the late prophet's contributions to faith, humanitarian service and societal development.
TB Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, died on June 5, 2021, at the age of 57. His ministry became one of Africa's most internationally recognised Pentecostal movements, attracting worshippers and visitors from around the world.
