In a strategic move aimed at accelerating digital transformation across Africa's financial sector, Interswitch Group has partnered with global banking technology provider Temenos to enhance its digital banking capabilities and deliver advanced banking solutions to financial institutions across the continent.
LAGOS, Nigeria – Interswitch Group, one of Africa's leading integrated payments and digital commerce companies, has entered into a strategic collaboration with , a global leader in banking technology, to strengthen its digital banking offerings and expand access to modern financial services across Africa.
The partnership will see Interswitch adopt Temenos' banking technology solutions covering core banking, digital banking, payments, wealth management, and financial crime management. The company will deploy these solutions through cloud-hosted and on-premises managed services for banks and financial institutions across the continent.
The initiative is expected to support financial institutions in modernizing their operations, improving customer experiences, and transitioning to more customer-centric business models. The services will initially be rolled out in key African markets, including Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, and other countries.
Speaking on the development, Jonah Adams, Managing Director, Digital Infrastructure and Managed Services (Systegra) at Interswitch, described the partnership as a major milestone in the company's growth strategy.
According to him, Temenos' cloud-native and composable banking platform will provide the flexibility and scalability required to support Interswitch's expansion beyond payments and into broader digital banking services.

Also commenting, William Moroney, Chief Revenue Officer at Temenos, described Interswitch as an important new customer and partner in Africa.
He noted that the collaboration highlights the adaptability of Temenos' technology in delivering innovative banking services tailored to African markets while strengthening the company's partner ecosystem across the continent.
Widely recognised for its Quickteller and Verve brands, Interswitch currently operates in 32 African countries and supports more than 300 financial institutions. Through its Quickteller platform, the company has played a significant role in advancing digital payments for consumers and businesses across Africa.
Its subsidiary, Verve International, recently surpassed 100 million payment cards issued, further strengthening its position as one of Nigeria's most widely used payment card and tokenization platforms.
Founded in 2002, Interswitch pioneered electronic payments processing and switching services in Nigeria, helping transform the country's financial ecosystem from cash-based transactions to digital payments.
Temenos, listed on the Swiss stock exchange under the ticker TEMN, serves banks globally through its core banking suite and cloud-based solutions designed to deliver next-generation banking services and AI-enhanced customer experiences.
