 X User Commends Ijede Police for Swift Response to Robbery, Recovery of Stolen Items

A social media user, Joseph Aluko, has commended the Ijede Police Division of the Lagos State Police Command for its swift response to a robbery incident in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, and the subsequent recovery of some of the items allegedly stolen during the attack.

Aluko, in a post shared on X and monitored by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), praised the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijede and his team for their prompt intervention following the early-morning robbery reportedly carried out in the Okeletu and Mamood areas of Ijede on September 13, 2026.

According to him, the suspected robbers attacked four buildings between approximately 2:30 a.m. and 3:40 a.m., carting away valuables including mobile phones, laptops, wristwatches and cash.

He said the police responded shortly after receiving a distress call, resulting in the arrest of one of the suspects around the Mamood area.

Aluko further claimed that information obtained during the investigation helped the police trace and arrest additional suspects in Apapa, Alaba Rago and Ogijo.

He also stated that the Ijede Police Division had recovered about 80 per cent of the items allegedly stolen during the incident, while CCTV footage reportedly provided useful leads to investigators.

Commending the Inspector-General of Police and other stakeholders for their support, Aluko specifically acknowledged the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani; the Alajede of Ijede; local government authorities; the Ijede DPO; and police officers involved in the operation.

He, however, called for sustained security measures in Ijede, urging security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and identify and clear suspected criminal hideouts, particularly in swampy areas.

Aluko also appealed to residents and other stakeholders to continue supporting security agencies with relevant information that could help prevent criminal activities and improve security across Ijede and other communities in Lagos State.

The reported recovery of the stolen items and arrests could not be independently verified from the information available, while the police authorities had yet to issue a detailed public statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
