LASTMA Rescue Team Saves Driver Trapped in Overloaded Truck in Lagos

In a dramatic incident earlier today, a truck loaded with nylon materials, registered as USF 104XU, was involved in a serious accident on Mobolaji Johnson Avenue, Alausa, Ikeja. The crash left the truck’s driver trapped in the wreckage, suffering severe leg fractures.

The swift intervention of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) rescue team proved critical in saving the driver. Using specialized equipment, the team successfully freed the injured driver from the mangled cabin of the overloaded truck.

Following the rescue, the driver was immediately handed over to the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), which transported him to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

Throughout the rescue operation, security personnel from the Alausa Police Station were present, ensuring a safe environment as the LASTMA team conducted their critical work.

The General Manager of LASTMA expressed his sympathies to the injured driver and wished him a speedy recovery. He also used the occasion to stress the dangers of overloading, reminding truck drivers to adhere to load limits to maintain control of their vehicles and prevent accidents, especially when making turns.

He urged all motorists to prioritize road safety, comply with regulations, and take necessary precautions to avoid similar incidents in the future.
