Nigeria Police Arrest Leuven Empire Hotel CEO Over Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor

The Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested Opara Macdonald, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Leuven Empire Hotel and Suites, Ejigbo, Lagos, for allegedly engaging in unlawful carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old minor.

The arrest follows a petition dated January 23, 2025, submitted to the Assistant Inspector General of Police by Edozie Christian, the father of the victim, Chigozie Edozie. According to the petition, Opara Macdonald allegedly took the minor from the hotel to his residence, where he forcefully subjected him to unlawful sexual acts.

The victim initially refused to speak out due to threats from the suspect but later confided in his mother. He revealed that Opara Macdonald warned him that disclosing the incident would result in his losing his sanity.

Investigations revealed that the suspect provided the victim with a bottle of Lucozade Boost and ₦5,000 after the incident. The victim's parents reported the matter to the Isheri-Osun Police Division, but the suspect refused to cooperate with law enforcement and attempted to manipulate the process.

The police have gathered evidence, including recorded telephone conversations, chat histories, and video evidence filmed by the victim. The suspect initially denied knowing the victim but later admitted to taking him to his residence.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police has urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and protect their children from harmful influences. The suspect will be formally charged in court upon completion of investigations.
