 Aroyewun, Transport Stakeholders Move to Ease Traffic in Igbogbo-Baiyeku

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has partnered with transport stakeholders to restore order and ease traffic congestion across major routes in the council area.

The intervention followed a strategic engagement held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, between the council chairman and leaders of key transport unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and representatives of tricycle and motorcycle operators.

Also present were the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu; Chief Security Officer of the Joint Task Force, Mr. Dare Igbasan; and the Chief Executive Officer of Marlex Limited, among others.

The meeting was convened to address the persistent gridlock and disorderly conduct of commercial vehicles and motorcycles along major roads within the LCDA. Aroyewun stressed that the comfort, safety, and convenience of road users remain a priority for his administration.

In response, transport union leaders assured the council of their full cooperation and pledged to support the implementation of corrective measures.

By Friday, August 22, 2025, visible improvements had been recorded around Igbogbo market, where motorcycles, tricycles, and buses that previously obstructed traffic had been relocated to designated parks, creating a more orderly environment for motorists and pedestrians.

Chairman Aroyewun described the swift compliance as evidence of the effectiveness of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding between government and stakeholders.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the collaboration in order to maintain peace, order, and smooth traffic flow across Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
