Apapa Customs Sets New Record with ₦20.1bn Revenue in One Day

Apapa, Lagos — In a remarkable feat, the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new national record, collecting ₦20,156,077,098.56 in revenue in a single day.

The milestone, achieved on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, came barely 24 hours after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as the new Customs Area Controller of the command. It surpasses the previous daily record of ₦18 billion, making it the highest collection by any customs command in Nigeria under the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.

The achievement reinforces Comptroller Oshoba’s pledge, made during his maiden address on Monday, to build on the successes of his predecessor and drive the command toward even greater revenue performance.

Shortly after assuming duty, the new CAC met with senior officers, commending their past achievements while urging them to intensify efforts. “Outstanding results are the real proof of hard work, dedication, and an uncompromising disposition to duty,” he told them.

Reacting to the ₦20.1bn milestone, Comptroller Oshoba described it as “just the beginning of greater exploits,” stressing that it was not a time for celebration but a call to sustain momentum.

“I commend my team and stakeholders for this great milestone just 24 hours after I resumed,” he said. “But it’s not the time to clap yet, because clapping means removing your two hands from work to celebrate. Let’s save the applause for the days ahead when we shall have even greater achievements—surpassing targets, curbing smuggling, and facilitating trade speedily without compromising integrity. I believe in action, which speaks louder than words.”

He further noted that the B’Odogwu platform was a necessity for modern, efficient customs administration and a tool that would strengthen Nigeria’s position as Africa’s largest economy through trade facilitation.

Comptroller Oshoba urged officers to remain dedicated and stakeholders to stay compliant, assuring that their collective efforts would continue to resonate positively on Nigeria’s economy.
