Low Turnout Mars 3rd Stakeholders’ Meeting Between Ibeju Chiefs, Baales and Real Estate Developers

The League of Chiefs and Baales in Ibeju communities has expressed disappointment over the low turnout of real estate developers at its 3rd Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Onibeju Palace.

Despite the poor attendance, the League reaffirmed its commitment to working harmoniously with genuine developers operating in Eleranigbe, Arapagi, Dongo, and other Ibeju communities. The League said the collaboration remains vital in securing the community’s ancestral patrimony and ensuring developers’ investments are protected.

Speaking on behalf of the League, its Public Relations Officer, Prince Ganiyu Kareem, cautioned that some developers risk being sidelined if they continue to disregard traditional institutions and ignore critical engagements.

He stressed that the League will continue to hold its meetings and keep proper records of all resolutions, warning that when government actions such as land revocation or encroachment by landgrabbers occur, the community and its families will not bear responsibility for developers who fail to align with them.

Prince Kareem also referenced the ongoing land allocation hearing at the Lagos State House of Assembly, where communities are pushing for 20% of total land to be formally allocated back to families and host communities.

“If the government eventually grants us that 20% allocation, no developer should expect the community to share from it. This is why we are calling now for collaboration—to face common challenges together, whether from government policies or from notorious landgrabbers. Failure to unite will leave some developers vulnerable,” he said.

The League appreciated the presence of developers who attended the meeting, including PWAN Group, Brit Property, Blessed Paradise Home, and PWAN Max, describing their participation as a mark of seriousness and willingness to partner with the communities.

The League Chairman, Chief Jubril Tunde Ogungbo, assured cooperative developers of continued support, while urging others to reconsider their stance and engage constructively before it becomes too late.
