Fidelity Bank Wins Double Honours at 2025 BAFI Awards

Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its leadership position in Nigeria’s financial sector, clinching two major awards at the 2025 edition of the BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.

The bank emerged winner in the categories of “Best Bank for Export & Trade Finance” and “Most Innovative Bank of the Year” at the ceremony held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island.

Receiving the awards on behalf of the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, OON, the Executive Director/Chief Operations and Information Officer, Mr. Stanley Amuchie, dedicated the Export and Trade Finance award to the bank’s customers and business partners.

“This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to promoting non-oil exports and supporting Nigerian businesses to compete globally through initiatives such as the Fidelity International Trade & Creative Connect (FNITCC) and the Export Management Programme (EMP),” Amuchie said.

“I dedicate this award to all our exporters who continue to showcase the best of Nigeria to the world, our loyal customers, and our partners for their steadfast support.”

Now in its 12th edition, the BAFI Awards has become a benchmark of excellence within Nigeria’s financial services industry, celebrating institutions that demonstrate leadership, innovation, and impact in driving national growth.

Fidelity Bank’s latest achievement comes on the heels of several significant milestones recorded over the past year. These include the funding of Nigeria’s first privately constructed onshore oil export terminal in 50 years, located at the Otakikpo Marginal Field and commissioned recently by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The bank also launched the Fidelity SME Hub, a state-of-the-art facility aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises through innovation, collaboration, and capacity-building programmes.

In addition, Fidelity successfully hosted the third edition of the Fidelity International Trade & Creative Connect (FNITCC) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, in September 2025, where Nigerian entrepreneurs engaged U.S. buyers, including global retailers such as Walmart and Target, in deal rooms to explore export opportunities.

Commenting further on the Most Innovative Bank award, Amuchie said, “This recognition validates our continuous drive to enhance operational efficiency, elevate customer experience, and strengthen overall business performance. We sincerely appreciate BusinessDay Media for the honour and reaffirm our commitment to developing more impactful innovations that empower our customers and advance Nigeria’s financial services sector.”
