Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Holds Landmark Economic Youth Summit, Launches Education Fund for Next Generation Empowerment
The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) under the leadership of Chairman Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun has taken a major step toward youth empowerment with the successful hosting of its maiden Economic Youth Summit, held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Megalite Hall, Homat Event Center, Igbogbo.
The event, themed “Unlocking and Harnessing Your Potential as a Youth for a Sustainable Future,” brought together over 500 young participants alongside government officials, industry experts, and community leaders for an engaging discourse on innovation, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth.
Organized in partnership with the Igbogbo Youth Forum (IYF) and anchored by Ln. Tunde Okusanya, the summit featured an impressive lineup of speakers and panelists who shared insights on critical topics including digital literacy, financial management, social entrepreneurship, and youth-focused government initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Aroyewun reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth development through the LCDA’s GLORY Agenda — an acronym for Growth, Leadership, Opportunity, Reform, and Youth Empowerment. He highlighted several ongoing initiatives such as “Mentorship with HOA”, digital empowerment programs, and partnerships with vocational centers and private sector stakeholders designed to prepare youths for a rapidly evolving economy.
“The sustainable future we talk about will not appear by wishful thinking,” Aroyewun stated. “It will be built by the minds and hands of young people who choose to grow beyond excuses.”
Keynote and guest speakers at the event included Dr. Tunde Ajayi, General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency; Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Director-General, iCare Foundation; Mr. Idris Adesina (Adido), panel moderator; Alhaji Sulaimon Ayokunle, CEO, Sula Marine; Mr. Timothy Aluko, Program Management Professional; Mrs. Ayomikun Titiloye, FCA, financial expert; Hon. Ajao Afeez Onaolapo, life coach; and Dr. Ganiyu Abiona Ibikunle, Assistant Director, Department of Education, LASU.
The summit also witnessed the official launch of the Igbogbo Youth Forum (IYF) Education Fund, a visionary initiative designed to support underprivileged students with scholarships, training, and educational resources. According to Hon. Yinka Ogunlaja, Chairman of the IYF Education Fund, the scheme will ensure that “no young talent is left behind,” reinforcing the council’s drive to create a more inclusive and educated youth population.
The well-attended event had in attendance several dignitaries, including HRM Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom; members of the Adeboruwa and Olubeshe Councils; Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya, Asipa of Ikorodu Kingdom and Asiwaju of Ibeshe Kingdom; Hon. Moyo Ogunlewe, Chairman of Kosofe Local Government; Prince Waheed Kasali, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Higher Education; ESV Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development; and Hon. Olalekan Biliamin Oba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor.
Others included the Vice Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Barr. Ade Ayeni; Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Basirat Banjoko; councillors, APC leaders, members of the IYF Board of Trustees led by Mr. Ahmed Sanni, CDC executives, sponsors, and members of the press.
Participants left the summit inspired and motivated, equipped with actionable insights to drive personal and community transformation. The event not only showcased the LCDA’s strong commitment to youth empowerment but also solidified Igbogbo/Baiyeku’s growing reputation as a hub of progressive leadership and sustainable development in Lagos State.
Chairman Aroyewun commended the Igbogbo Youth Forum, led by Dr. Adeleke Dankuwo, and the organizing committee chaired by Mr. Taofeek Ipaye, for their dedication and innovation in ensuring the summit’s success.
