Lagos Police Begin Full Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permits October 2

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the commencement of a full-scale enforcement of laws regulating the use of tinted glass on vehicles across the state, effective Thursday, October 2, 2025.

According to the Command, the exercise aligns with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, and is aimed at enhancing public safety, curbing criminal activities, and ensuring compliance with road traffic regulations.

Vehicle owners who are yet to register for the mandatory Tinted Glass Permit have been urged to obtain it via the official portal, www.possap.gov.ng. Those who do not intend to apply for the permit have been advised to remove their tinted glass or replace them with transparent ones in line with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004.

The Command warned that vehicles found with tinted glass without an approved permit would be impounded and offenders prosecuted.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, assured Lagos residents that the enforcement would be carried out with the highest level of professionalism, fairness, and respect for citizens’ rights. He also cautioned officers against harassment and extortion of motorists, stressing that erring officers would be sanctioned alongside their supervising officers.

While urging motorists to always carry their vehicle documents and cooperate during lawful stop-and-search operations, the Command emphasised that the enforcement exercise is not designed to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to guarantee the safety of all.
