LASTMA Director of Operations, Peter Gbejemede, Wins Lagos State’s Best Traffic Officer Award

In recognition of his outstanding service, professionalism, and commitment to public duty, the Director of Operations of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Peter Gbejemede, has been honoured with the prestigious “Best Traffic Officer of the State (Senior Category)” award.

The award was presented by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, during the 2025 Public Service Week Celebration, acknowledging Gbejemede’s exemplary leadership, operational excellence, and unwavering dedication to ensuring safety and order on Lagos roads.

According to the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the recognition is well-deserved and reflects Mr. Gbejemede’s significant contributions to traffic management and enforcement across the state.

Bakare-Oki praised the award recipient’s diligence and professionalism, describing him as “a shining example of the Agency’s core values of discipline, integrity, and excellence.” He also encouraged other officers to emulate his dedication and continue supporting Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision for a safer and more efficiently mobile Lagos.

A distinguished public servant, Mr. Gbejemede joined the Lagos State Public Service in 2000 and has served in several key capacities within LASTMA. He was previously named the Agency’s Best Zonal Head in 2016 and Best Commander in 2018 before his current role as Director of Operations.

An alumnus of Lagos State University (LASU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Gbejemede holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marine Environment, and a Master’s degree in Transport Planning and Management.

His latest honour, colleagues say, is a testament to over two decades of exceptional service, discipline, and commitment to advancing the Agency’s mission of ensuring sanity and safety on Lagos roads.
