LASTMA Named Nigeria’s Best State Traffic Management Agency at 2025 NITT Leadership Awards

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has been honoured with the prestigious award of “State Traffic Management Agency of the Year” at the 2025 Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Summit and Awards, held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

The annual national event, organised by the Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), recognises excellence, innovation, and leadership in the country’s transport and logistics sector. LASTMA emerged as the overall best traffic management agency following a rigorous nomination and nationwide voting process across multiple media platforms.

Receiving the award on behalf of the General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, LASTMA’s Director of Logistics and Transport, Mr. Jubril Oshodi, expressed gratitude to the organisers and the public for acknowledging the agency’s efforts in maintaining traffic order, safeguarding lives, and promoting disciplined motoring in Lagos State.

He dedicated the award to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his visionary leadership and continued investment in modernising the state’s transport sector. Mr. Oshodi also commended the top management team and the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation for their strategic guidance and support in repositioning the agency for improved service delivery.

In his reaction, the General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the award as a “distinguished honour and a renewed call to higher service.” He reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to professionalism, innovation, and global best practices in traffic management.

According to him, the Authority will continue to harness technology, strengthen human capacity, and deepen stakeholder collaboration to tackle the dynamic challenges of traffic management in Lagos — Africa’s largest megacity.

The 2025 Leadership Summit and Awards brought together key figures in Nigeria’s transport and logistics ecosystem, including the Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’id Ahmed Alkali, and the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed.

LASTMA’s latest recognition reinforces its status as a model for other state traffic agencies and a key driver in Lagos State’s ongoing efforts to build a safer, more efficient, and sustainable transport system.
