Oluremi Tinubu Calls for Collective Action to Achieve Food Security on World Food Day

As the world commemorated World Food Day 2025 on Wednesday, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, called for stronger collaboration among citizens and stakeholders to achieve food security and ensure access to nutritious and affordable meals for all Nigerians.

In a message to mark the global event themed “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” the First Lady emphasized that food security is a shared responsibility that requires collective commitment and sustained effort from individuals, communities, and institutions.

“The future we want, one free from hunger and malnutrition, is within our reach, but it requires every one of us to work together to transform our food systems,” she said.

Senator Tinubu highlighted the importance of partnerships that promote sustainable agriculture, minimize food waste, and strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to produce sufficient and healthy food for its population.

She urged Nigerians to actively participate in food production, noting that building a healthier and more prosperous nation depends on inclusive efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and nutrition.

“Let us commit to join hands today to build a nation where everyone is involved in the process of food production for a better, healthier, and more prosperous future for all,” she added.

World Food Day is observed annually on October 16 to raise awareness about global hunger and promote actions toward ensuring food security and sustainable agricultural practices.
