Anambra Approves N1.7bn Ikenga–Isuofia–Igboukwu Discharge Channel Project as Soludo Expands Infrastructure Drive

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved a contract worth N1,773,559,976.65 for the construction of the Ikenga–Isuofia–Igboukwu Discharge Channel, marking another major step in Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s aggressive infrastructure renewal plan.

The approval was issued during the 23rd ANSEC meeting held on Monday, 17th November 2025, at the Light House, Awka.

State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said the Council also ratified several other critical projects, including the supply and installation of a 32kva solar power system at the Country Club of Solution Fun City, Awka.

Also approved was the construction of the Solution Park & Pay Garage at Ekwulobia, featuring an office building, gate house, toilet facilities, concrete flooring, park gazebo with solar panel stands, benches, and perimeter fencing.

Additional approvals include:

  • Extension of electricity to Iyiora Anam Community and the Zion Ministry Psychiatric & Elderly Hospital, Aguleri
  • Installation of traffic light systems: a 3-way light at Igwe Orizu Junction (Lot 1) and a 4-way system at Nnewi Roundabout on the Nnewi–Ozubulu dual carriageway (Lot 2), both with pedestrian lights
  • Supply and installation of fire-fighting equipment at the College of Nursing Sciences, Umueze-Isuofia
  • Rehabilitation of failed sections of St. Thomas Aquinas Road, GRA Awka – Min of Lands – Ekwulobia Street – Chief Abose Ejeagwu Lane

Governor Soludo’s ongoing transformation agenda has drawn national attention. During a recent visit to Anambra, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu applauded the governor’s performance, particularly while commissioning landmark projects such as the newly completed Government House—now named The Light House, a 34-year-old vision finally realized under Soludo.

President Tinubu praised the go8vernor’s capacity for effective governance, describing him as “Mr. Solution” and noting that Soludo possesses the innate ability to “perform wonderfully.”

The newly approved projects are expected to boost environmental management, urban mobility, public safety, and community development across the state.
