APC’s Alleged Election Rigging Plot Uncovered in Anambra

As voters in Anambra State head to the polls this morning, fresh allegations have emerged of a coordinated plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, to subvert the electoral process through large-scale rigging, manipulation of election data, and violence.

According to multiple intelligence sources, intercepted communications, and insider testimonies, the alleged scheme involves a network of compromised INEC officials, police officers, and soldiers, who have reportedly been positioned to influence both the technical and physical components of the election.

Compromised INEC Officials and Data Manipulation

Investigations reveal alleged efforts by APC operatives to infiltrate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) structure by planting loyal officials within key positions, particularly Electoral Officers (EOs) and ICT staff reportedly drawn from Ebonyi and Imo States.

Sources claim that Senator Ekwunife has been in contact with the Ebonyi State APC chairman to coordinate the deployment of ICT personnel sympathetic to their cause. These officials, already assigned to Anambra for the polls, are allegedly “on retainer” to interfere with backend data transmission systems.

One security source disclosed that the candidate boasted about having “her people” in INEC who would ensure that the figures transmitted electronically align with fabricated results.

Fake BVAS Devices and Result Swapping

Another disturbing revelation concerns the alleged procurement of 500 BVAS-like devices by Nicholas Ukachukwu for a “shadow accreditation” operation. The devices, reportedly preconfigured, are designed to mirror and override legitimate voter accreditation figures—making it easier to justify falsified results.

Further intelligence links Anambra APC chairman, Basil Ejidike, and an INEC staff member, Jessica Esiaka, to the insertion of 400–500 fictitious names into the voter register in Ejidike’s polling unit, a move aimed at inflating votes in favour of the APC ticket.

The campaign’s Director-General, Dozie Ikedife, and an INEC insider identified as “Goddy” in Nnewi, are also alleged to have procured unregistered mobile phones for covert coordination among compromised officials in multiple local government areas including Ogbaru, Onitsha South, Idemili North, Nnewi South, and Ayamelum.

Alleged Bribery of Ad-Hoc Staff

Reports also allege that on Friday, November 7, Ukachukwu met with Presiding Officers (POs) and Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), where he allegedly distributed ₦70,000 each with promises of an additional ₦1 million if they could either refuse to upload authentic polling results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) or deliberately make the result copies illegible.

Selected NYSC ad-hoc staff were allegedly recruited through the campaign structure, with each promised ₦50,000 to manipulate accreditation or results at targeted polling units.

Militia Deployment and Security Complicity

Security operatives have also raised alarms over reports of imported armed thugs and fake police uniforms allegedly brought into the state to intimidate voters and disrupt strongholds of other parties, especially the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Former Ogbaru LGA chairman, Arinze Aworgu, is reportedly leading the militia operations, coordinating from Osamara town, with fighters said to be camped in the Ogbaru bushes and planning to move by flying boats.

The operation is allegedly financed and directed by Chief Linus Ukachukwu, with additional thugs reportedly quartered in a Nnewi South hotel and his residence in Osumenyi. Senator Ekwunife is also alleged to have brought in 150 thugs to secure her base in Nri/Anaocha LGA.

Security intelligence further points to the involvement of a MOPOL commander in the state, said to be coordinating the operation’s security cover.

INEC and Security Agencies Urged to Act

Given the gravity of these allegations, security experts and civil society groups are calling on the INEC leadership and Nigeria’s security agencies to immediately investigate and neutralize any plans to undermine the integrity of the Anambra governorship election.

“The stakes are high, and the credibility of this election will depend on how swiftly these claims are verified and addressed,” one intelligence officer warned.

Observers insist that the Anambra governorship election is too critical to the nation’s democratic stability to be left vulnerable to manipulation and violence.
