Ibeju-Lekki CDC Celebrates 2025 Community Day, Strengthens Civic and Socio-Economic Engagement

The Ibeju-Lekki Community Development Committee (CDC) has celebrated its 2025 Community Day with great fanfare and a renewed commitment to inclusive development, under the theme “Building Socio-Economic and Civic Engagement.”

The colourful event, held at Elemoro Junior High School, brought together community leaders, political representatives, and residents in a show of unity and progress.

Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, commended the CDC for its unwavering dedication to grassroots advancement. He reaffirmed the council’s partnership with community stakeholders to promote infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic inclusion.

“When citizens engage civically, they give voice to their communities. When communities organize socio-economically, they create opportunities that empower families and sustain livelihoods,” Hon. Olowa stated.

In his stewardship report, CDC Chairman, Comrade Jabita Felix Adeboye, highlighted major achievements recorded under his leadership — including road rehabilitation, installation of solar-powered streetlights, provision of transformers, water projects, and upgraded health centres.

“Our goal has been simple — to make life better for our people,” Adeboye affirmed.

The event also featured goodwill messages from dignitaries, including Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who applauded the CDC’s collaboration with his office in driving infrastructural growth within the local government.

Chairman, Lagos Advisory Council for CDCs, Dr. Azeez Hamzat, praised Comrade Adeboye’s leadership team for their exceptional service and lauded Hon. Olowa for his continued support for community initiatives.

Cultural displays, awards of excellence, and recognition of outstanding contributors to community development added colour to the celebration.

In a gesture that drew thunderous applause, Hon. Olowa announced the donation of a new bus to the CDC, a move described by attendees as a testament to his administration’s dedication to community partnership.

Also in attendance were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, other members of the legislature, traditional rulers, and zonal CDC representatives.

The 2025 Ibeju-Lekki Community Day has been widely hailed as a model for grassroots collaboration and civic engagement, setting a new standard for participatory governance in Lagos State.
