Soludo Clinches Landslide Victory in Anambra, Credited to Transformative Governance

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has secured a resounding re-election victory, winning in all 21 Local Government Areas of the state in the November 8 gubernatorial election.

According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Governor Soludo, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), polled a total of 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes.

The returning officer for the election, Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, declared Soludo the winner, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and credible—a verdict echoed by both local and international observers.

Other political parties trailed far behind, with ADC securing 8,208 votes, YPP 37,753, LP 10,576, PDP 1,401, APN 892, and ZLP 453, among others.

Governor Soludo’s sweeping victory has been widely attributed to his impactful performance in governance, which has transformed Anambra into a hub for economic growth, infrastructural renewal, and civic stability.

Observers note that his achievements align with his administration’s five-point agenda anchored on security; infrastructure and economic transformation; human capital and social agenda; governance and values; and environmental sustainability.

Under his leadership, Anambra topped BudgIT’s 2025 State Fiscal Performance Index as the best-performing state in Nigeria, earning commendations from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who hailed Soludo as “a progressive partner in development.”

The governor’s strides span several sectors. In education, his government introduced free education and employed over 8,000 teachers, alongside massive school rehabilitation and tertiary education reforms. In health, five new general hospitals were built, others renovated, with telemedicine services and free maternal healthcare introduced.

In security, the implementation of the Homeland Security Law led to the creation of the Agunechemba state security network and Operation Udo Ga-Achi, resulting in a sharp decline in criminal activities. Additionally, more than 30,000 youths have been trained in digital skills, while governance processes have been fully digitalized.

With this landslide victory, Governor Soludo is set to consolidate his reform-driven agenda and strengthen his vision of making Anambra a “livable and prosperous homeland.”
