Ibeju-Lekki Council Launches Door-to-Door Polio Immunization Campaign to Protect Children Under Five

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has flagged off a comprehensive door-to-door polio immunization campaign aimed at safeguarding children under five years of age and eliminating the variant poliovirus type 2 (cVPV2) from the community.

The flag-off ceremony, held at Orimedu community, marked the beginning of an intensive vaccination exercise designed to ensure no child is left unprotected against the preventable disease.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Olowa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to public health and community well-being, emphasizing the importance of collective participation in achieving a polio-free Ibeju-Lekki.

The event drew the presence of health workers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community representatives, all of whom pledged support for the campaign’s success.

Health officials noted that the initiative aligns with ongoing national and global efforts to eradicate polio and strengthen immunization coverage across Nigeria.
