Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Hosts 2026 Budget Forum, Showcases Early Achievements Under Aroyewun

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Thursday hosted the 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and community-driven development.

The well-attended event, held at the Council Secretariat, brought together key community blocs including Adeboruwa-in-Council, Olubeshe-in-Council, APC leaders, the Vice Chairman, councillors, management staff, CDC/CDA representatives, market associations, religious leaders, artisans, youth groups, security agencies, and ward leaders.

Aroyewun said the 2026 budget is being prepared under the theme “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity,” which reflects the administration’s resolve to ensure equitable distribution of development across all communities, markets, institutions, and households within the LCDA.

He highlighted major achievements recorded within his first three months in office, spanning infrastructure, education, health, security, staff welfare, and youth development.

Infrastructure projects include reconstruction of Oliwo Amoju Street; ongoing construction of Ilemere–Oshorun Road by Rep. Babajimi Benson; Phase II of Agunfoye Road facilitated by Senator Tokunbo Abiru; rehabilitation of Ojubode Junction; support for Lajo community’s link bridge; culvert works at Pineapple Estate; and major desilting efforts across key streets.

In education, the council commenced the establishment of Zumratul Islamiyyah Primary School in Igbogbo; reconstructed six classrooms with new furniture and marker boards at Methodist Primary School; built six modern toilet units; and introduced the 2025 LCDA Spelling Bee Competition.

The health sector recorded free medical outreach, implementation of the National Immunisation Plus Day campaign, renovation of Ibeshe PHC, and reconstruction/expansion of Baiyeku PHC.

On security, the LCDA constructed a new JTF Area Office at Baiyeku PHC, supported the Igbe-Oloja Police Post, and continued inspection of the Elepe Smart Police Station facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson.

Aroyewun also outlined efforts in staff welfare, including monthly birthday celebrations, free healthcare services for staff, and training sponsorships. Youth-focused programmes such as mentorship sessions, economic summits, ICT initiatives, and partnerships with Rotary Centre were also highlighted.

He noted that many of these projects were completed within the administration’s first 100 days, demonstrating a commitment to rapid development.

Stakeholders from market associations, CDC, CAN, the Muslim community, youth groups, and ward leaders presented concerns and recommendations in areas such as infrastructure, security, welfare, empowerment, and market regulation.

The Chairman assured that these proposals would be reviewed and incorporated into the 2026 fiscal plan in line with the “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity.”

Aroyewun encouraged residents and businesses to support community development through prompt payment of taxes and levies.

A member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, commended past and present political office holders for their contributions to the growth of the LCDA and urged continued dedication to the values that sustain the community.

The Chairman also appreciated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, APC leaders, the legislative arm, management staff, and the entire workforce for their support in advancing the administration’s developmental programmes.
