LASG Assures Residents of Smooth Traffic Flow During Lekki–Ajah Road Rehabilitation

The Lagos State Government has reassured residents and motorists plying the Lekki–Ajah corridor that strategic measures have been put in place to ensure minimal disruption to traffic flow during the ongoing road rehabilitation works.

Speaking on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, said the project, which is part of the State’s continuous efforts to improve road infrastructure, will be executed in well-structured phases to ease movement and prevent gridlock along the busy corridor.

According to Giwa, “The rehabilitation work will be implemented in carefully planned phases so that daily movement is not disrupted. Only specific sections of the corridor will undergo repairs at any given time, and these have been deliberately selected to minimize impact on the main carriageway.”

He explained that the State Government has activated a series of proactive measures, including the opening and strengthening of alternative routes such as the Coastal Road and adjoining service lanes, to provide smooth diversions for motorists where necessary.

“In addition, a night-shift strategy has been introduced for major aspects of the work so that the bulk of construction activities take place when traffic volume is significantly lower,” Giwa added.

The Special Adviser further disclosed that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will deploy adequate personnel along the entire stretch of the corridor to manage traffic, prevent congestion, and swiftly respond to any emerging pressure during the rehabilitation period.

He emphasized that the rehabilitation project is designed to enhance mobility, not to inconvenience residents. “Our goal is to make commuting along the Lekki–Ajah corridor safer, faster, and more comfortable for everyone. We appeal to road users for patience and cooperation as the State works to deliver lasting solutions,” Giwa said.

Hon. Giwa reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure and maintaining continuous engagement with the public throughout the duration of the project.
