Nestlé Professional Inspires Young Food Explorers at International Chefs Day 2025 Celebration

Nestlé Professional, in partnership with the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (Worldchefs) and the Association of Professional Chefs Nigeria (APCN), joined chefs across the globe to celebrate International Chefs Day 2025 under the theme “Food Explorers.”

The colourful event, held on October 21, 2025, at Nestlé’s Sagamu Factory in Ogun State, brought together 10 professional chefs and 40 pupils from Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK) beneficiary schools for a hands-on learning experience about food, nutrition, and sustainability.

The pupils engaged in fun and educational activities — from planting seeds in the factory garden to preparing vibrant, nutritious meals in the training kitchen. Guided by professional chefs, the children explored how healthy eating can be creative, exciting, and environmentally sustainable.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ibraheem Awelenje, Business Manager, Nestlé Professional, highlighted the essence of the celebration.

“International Chefs Day is not just about honouring those who create amazing meals; it’s about inspiring the next generation to understand nutrition and sustainability. We believe that by combining creativity with healthy eating, we can shape a healthier future for our children,” he said.

Also speaking, Chef Cyril Agbachom, Team Lead of the APCN delegation, praised the children’s enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.

“Teaching young people about healthy diets through hands-on activities helps them appreciate the value of nutritious food. It’s about inspiring curiosity and a lifelong love for healthy cooking,” he stated.

The pupils also took part in a gardening session led by Mrs. Halimat Adeniji, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture and Food Systems, who taught them how to plant and nurture local fruits and vegetables.

“Catching them young is key to achieving food security,” she explained. “When children learn to grow and eat local foods, they develop healthier habits and contribute to sustainable communities.”

At the end of the event, each child received a plant pot and a recipe card to take back to school — tangible reminders of the lessons learned and the joy of food exploration.

Since 2014, Nestlé Professional and the Association of Professional Chefs Nigeria have worked together to promote nutrition education and healthy eating among children nationwide. This initiative aligns with the company’s global flagship programme, Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK), which aims to help 50 million children live healthier lives by 2030.

Through these partnerships, Nestlé continues to empower children to make informed food choices, support their wellbeing, and build healthier communities — one nutritious meal at a time.
