Governor Soludo’s ANSEC Launches Facelift for Ojukwu University Trauma Centre

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has awarded a contract for the landscaping of the car park at the Trauma Centre of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka. The contract was awarded to Triseconds Resources Ltd as part of ongoing efforts to improve the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

According to the State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the decision was made during the 25th ANSEC meeting held at the Lighthouse, Awka, on December 15, 2025, alongside several other key policy decisions.

Healthcare has been a key priority for Governor Soludo since taking office, with significant allocations in the 2026 Budget Proposal. The budget earmarks N162.6 billion for recurrent expenditure and N595.3 billion for capital projects, including investments in new schools, upgrading existing institutions, and completing ongoing healthcare projects.

Governor Soludo’s administration is set to deepen interventions in healthcare, including the completion of the College of Nursing and the construction of a specialist teaching hospital with a focus on oncology, further strengthening the state’s healthcare ecosystem.

Since assuming office, the administration has achieved remarkable milestones, including:

• Provision of free antenatal and delivery services for over 161,197 pregnant women, including 594 caesarean surgeries with zero mortality.
• Construction of four new general hospitals in local government areas previously without such facilities.
• Modernisation and equipping of 326 primary healthcare centres, fitted with solar power, boreholes, and essential medical equipment for reliable healthcare delivery.

Governor Soludo, popularly known as the “Solution Governor”, has also prioritised broader infrastructure projects, including the completion of a coordinated wholesale centre in Oba, projected to be the largest drug market in Africa.

In recognition of his achievements in healthcare, Governor Soludo was named the most performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast and nationally in 2024, earning $1.2 million in awards—$500,000 for regional excellence and $700,000 for national distinction—through the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge.

The facelift of the Trauma Centre car park is part of ongoing efforts to enhance patient experience, improve healthcare accessibility, and provide world-class facilities for the people of Anambra State.
