Ogun Police Deploy Full Security Operations to Ensure Safe Festive Celebrations, Warn Against Fireworks
The Ogun State Police Command has rolled out comprehensive security operations ahead of the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations to safeguard lives and property across the state.
In a press statement e-signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the Command said the measures will be in effect before, during and after the festive period.
According to the statement, the Police reiterated that the ban on the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts and bangers remains in force, warning that the loud noises they produce are often mistaken for gunshots or explosions, thereby causing fear, panic and unnecessary tension among residents.
To ensure peace and public safety, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and all tactical units have been directed to intensify patrols and enhance police visibility across strategic locations, including residential areas, markets, motor parks, places of worship, hospitals and major highways.
The Command also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against the use of fireworks, stressing that anyone found causing public disturbance, injury or damage to property will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police appealed to residents to celebrate responsibly, obey the law and cooperate with the Police and other security agencies. He assured the public of adequate security throughout the festive season and beyond.
