Police, NDLEA Strengthen Partnership Against Drug Abuse in Lagos

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to working closely with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the country.

Fayoade made the pledge while receiving the Zonal Commander of NDLEA Zone 8, Lagos, ACGN Stella Ngozi Ngwoke, who paid a courtesy and familiarization visit to the Zone 2 Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.

During the visit, Ngwoke explained that the engagement was aimed at strengthening synergy, support and operational collaboration between the NDLEA and the police, particularly in the conduct of large-scale anti-drug operations.

She noted that effective inter-agency cooperation remained critical in addressing the growing challenge of drug and substance abuse, which continues to pose serious threats to public safety and national development.

In his response, the AIG welcomed the NDLEA zonal commander and described the visit as timely, given the increasing prevalence of drug-related crimes in society.

He assured the NDLEA of the police command’s readiness to provide necessary assistance whenever required, stressing that drug abuse and illicit drug supply had become a major concern requiring a united front from all security agencies.

The meeting underscored the resolve of both agencies to deepen collaboration and enhance joint efforts in combating drug trafficking and substance abuse across Lagos and its environs.
