Seme Customs Command Celebrates PRO Suleiman, Honours Retiring Deputy Comptroller Edime

The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has hosted a special send-forth ceremony in honour of its Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) Isah Suleiman, who has been redeployed to the Apapa Area Command. The event also celebrated the distinguished career of a retiring Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Audu Samson Edime.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Wale Adenuga, praised Suleiman as a dedicated and reliable officer whose professionalism strengthened the command’s operations. He noted that the PRO played a key role in stabilising administrative structures and enhancing public relations engagements within the command.

Stakeholders from sister security and regulatory agencies— including the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, NAFDAC, NDLEA, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Immigration Service—paid glowing tributes to Suleiman. They commended his diligence, collaborative spirit, and ability to foster unity among agencies operating within the Seme corridor.

Under Suleiman’s leadership, the command’s activities were consistently projected with integrity and visibility, earning respect across the Abidjan–Lagos transport axis. Speakers described his contributions as both official and personal, reflecting sincerity, commitment, and exemplary service.

The ceremony also recognised Deputy Comptroller Audu Samson Edime, who recently concluded his career with the service. Comptroller Adenuga highlighted that retirement marks the beginning of new opportunities, emphasizing that the mandatory service age was designed to allow officers explore other ventures after active duty. He cited instances of former public servants who are thriving in agriculture and other enterprises, while a representative of NAFDAC encouraged retirees and officers to take advantage of the agency’s flexible business registration options for small, medium, and large-scale enterprises.

In his remarks, Suleiman expressed deep gratitude to Comptroller Adenuga for reposing confidence in him and to his colleagues in the Public Relations Unit for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

The ceremony, attended by officers, partner agencies, and friends of the command, was described as a celebration of service, loyalty, teamwork, and institutional cohesion.
