TRIBUTE: Senator Olalere Oriolowo Pays Tribute to Late Alhaji S. Ola Aremu

Senator Olalere Oriolowo has paid glowing tribute to the late Alhaji S. Ola Aremu, describing him as a self-made man whose life of impact transcended formal education and left an enduring legacy in Iwoland and beyond.

According to the senator, Alhaji Aremu was not highly schooled, but he consciously invested in self-development, driven by hard work, vision and uncommon determination. His early venture into the transport business, he noted, laid a solid foundation for a lifetime of enterprise, success and service to humanity.

Alhaji Aremu was widely known for his humility and integrity, conducting his business affairs with simplicity, honesty and respect for all. A natural philanthropist and community leader, he committed his time, resources and influence to the growth, unity and stability of Iwoland.

The late businessman was also remembered as a loyal and dependable ally of the late Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Asiru Olatunbosun. Senator Oriolowo recalled that Alhaji Aremu explored every legitimate avenue and contact to support his friend’s ascension to the throne, a gesture he described as a reflection of his belief in destiny, friendship and selfless service.

Alhaji Aremu made history as the first Chairman of the Iwo Day Celebrations and served meritoriously on the 1st and 2nd Iwo Board of Trustees. He also personally financed logistics during the 2006 National Population Census, a contribution that significantly aided Iwo Local Government in emerging as the most populous local government area in Osun State.

Described as intelligent, versatile, patriotic and constructive, the late Alhaji Aremu played a prominent role in the socio-economic development of Iwoland. A diversified businessman and successful cashew farmer, he rose through dedication and integrity to become chairman of virtually every association he belonged to, underscoring his leadership capacity and credibility.

Senator Oriolowo stressed that Alhaji Aremu’s life affirmed that greatness is not defined by academic certificates, but by the ability to positively impact society politically, economically, socially, educationally and religiously.

A patron of several social clubs, a strategic politician, a devoted family man and a trusted elder, Alhaji S. Ola Aremu’s death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

“Though he is gone, his legacy of service, leadership and generosity will continue to inspire generations,” the senator said, praying that Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
