Oluremi Tinubu Meets Bank of Agriculture MD, Finalises Plans for National Community Food Bank Rollout



Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has received the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Agriculture , Mr. Ayo Sotinrin, at her office in the State House,Abuja , as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen food security and tackle child malnutrition nationwide.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after the meeting, Sotinrin commended the First Lady’s agricultural-focused initiatives, noting that they are already yielding positive results in enhancing food security, maternal health and child nutrition across the country.

He highlighted the upcoming launch of the National Community Food Bank programme, recently announced by the First Lady, describing it as a strategic intervention aimed at addressing malnutrition at its root. According to him, beyond providing immediate food support, the initiative will promote bio-fortification from the production stage to ensure improved nutritional value in locally grown food.

The Bank of Agriculture MD said discussions during the meeting centred on finalising modalities for the nationwide rollout of the programme. He expressed optimism that the initiative would significantly improve the health outcomes of future generations of Nigerians.

Sotinrin also revealed that the First Lady’s “Every Home A Garden” initiative remains a priority for the bank. He disclosed plans to introduce a scheme that will enable female civil servants access support through the programme as part of efforts to deepen the Federal Government’s food security agenda.

Recently, at the 2026 National Traditional and Religious Leaders Summit on Health, Senator Tinubu flagged off an advocacy and awareness campaign for the National Community Food Bank programme, designed to combat child malnutrition and improve access to nutritious food across communities.

The meeting underscores the First Lady’s continued drive to leverage institutional partnerships to advance food security, nutrition and sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria.
