Oyo/Osun Customs Strengthens Synergy with DSS, NDLEA, NAFDAC to Boost Security, Intelligence Sharing

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Custom Service  has reinforced its commitment to inter-agency collaboration following a series of strategic courtesy visits to key security and regulatory agencies in Oyo State.

The Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC), DC Moses Adewole, led his management team on the visits held between February 17 and 19, 2026, as part of efforts to deepen intelligence sharing, enhance joint operations, and strengthen national security architecture in the state.

On Tuesday, February 17, the Customs delegation visited the Oyo State Command of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) in Ibadan, where they were received by the State Director, Mr. Rahim Adelakun.

DC Adewole commended the DSS for its critical role in safeguarding lives and property, stressing that sustained collaboration between Customs and the intelligence agency remains vital to effective border management and internal security.

In his response, Adelakun described the Nigeria Customs Service as a pivotal institution in Nigeria’s economic development and border protection framework. He assured the Command of continued DSS support through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and capacity-building initiatives.

The following day, February 18, the Acting CAC paid a similar visit to the Oyo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency  (NDLEA), where he was received by the State Commander, Commander Oluwarotimi Lawal, alongside his management team.

Commander Lawal lauded Customs for its strategic contributions to curbing illicit trafficking and pledged maximum cooperation in tackling drug-related crimes. Adewole, in turn, appreciated the NDLEA’s partnership and reiterated his resolve to further strengthen the existing working relationship between both agencies.

Continuing the engagement drive, the Customs boss on Thursday, February 19, visited the Southwest Zonal Office of the (NAFDAC) in Ibadan. He was received by the Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Isaac Anjorin Kolawole.

Adewole acknowledged NAFDAC’s vital role in regulating food and drug safety, noting that collaboration between both agencies is crucial in protecting public health and advancing national interest.

Responding, Dr. Kolawole commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its impact on revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and border security. He emphasized that effective inter-agency synergy remains key to efficient service delivery and sustainable national development.

The visits, according to the Command, underscore its dedication to fostering stronger partnerships with sister agencies to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen national security, and support Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.
