Police Arrest Parkview Estate Robbery Kingpin, Recover Vehicles, Jewellery Worth Billions in Lagos

The , Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against armed robbery and burglary with the arrest of four suspects linked to a string of high-profile robberies in Ikoyi and other parts of Lagos Island.

Addressing journalists on Friday, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, , said the arrests followed multiple petitions by residents of Parkview Estate over recurring robbery incidents.

According to him, the Command acted in line with the operational directives of the Inspector General of Police, , deploying intelligence-led strategies to dismantle the criminal network operating across Lagos and Ogun States.

Arrest and Recovery

The suspects arrested are:

• Hassan Atahiru, 43
• Ikpi Johnson Ibiang, 30
• Aishatu Seni Ali, 25

The breakthrough followed a written petition dated February 4, 2026, from the Parkview Residents Association, Ikoyi, reporting repeated cases of housebreaking, armed robbery, and theft within the estate.

The matter was referred to the Zonal Anti-Piracy Unit for discreet investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed a short-let apartment—George Residence—located on Femi-Pedro Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, on February 6, 2026, where the principal suspect, Francis Fidelis, was arrested. The operation lasted into the early hours of February 7.

Police recovered two vehicles, including an unregistered dark grey Mercedes Benz GLE (2018 model) and a black Lexus RX 350 with registration number AB451KR. Also recovered were burglary tools, a black plastic pistol, a serrated kitchen knife, five crowbars, pliers, screwdrivers, an adjustable spanner, face masks, gloves, and clothing allegedly used during operations.

Other exhibits include seven mobile phones, four iPads, large quantities of jewellery—22 pairs of earrings, 13 single earrings, six wristwatches, five rings, gold bangles, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, and hand chains—along with backpacks and charms.

Confession and Modus Operandi

Police said the principal suspect, a Port Harcourt resident who relocated to Lagos last year, rented short-let apartments within high-brow gated communities to gain easy access to targeted estates.

He allegedly confessed to carrying out several robberies in Parkview Estate, Banana Island, Lekki Phase 1, and other upscale neighbourhoods on Lagos Island, often operating alone while masked and armed. He reportedly admitted to stealing properties valued at over ₦3 billion before his arrest.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Hassan Atahiru, identified as a receiver of stolen goods. He allegedly confessed to purchasing gold and diamond jewellery, gold bars, designer watches, and other valuables from the principal suspect. Some of the items, he said, were transported to Cotonou, Benin Republic, through his brother to evade detection.

Police also revealed that proceeds from the robberies were used to purchase the 2018 Mercedes Benz GLE valued at ₦74 million for the principal suspect.

Ongoing Investigation

AIG Fayoade assured residents of Lagos and Ogun States of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging members of the public to continue providing timely information to security agencies.

He added that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the process.
