Oluremi Tinubu Celebrates Women’s Strength, Calls for Rights and Equity on International Women’s Day 2026
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has celebrated the resilience, courage and achievements of women and girls across the country as the world marks the 2026 International Women’s Day, urging greater commitment to rights, justice and opportunities for all women.
In her message commemorating the 2026 International Women’s Day on March 8, the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, joined millions of Nigerians and the global community in celebrating the contributions and achievements of women and girls.
Tinubu highlighted the importance of recognizing the strength, courage, tenacity and accomplishments of women, noting that their progress is vital to the development of society.
Reflecting on this year’s global theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” the First Lady stressed that empowering women should not be viewed as charity but as a strategic investment in national development.
According to her, when women are provided with access to quality education, healthcare, economic empowerment, leadership opportunities, justice and equity, the entire society benefits.
She noted that strengthening women’s participation and inclusion leads to stronger families, more prosperous communities and a more inclusive nation.
The First Lady also reaffirmed that the advancement of women is directly linked to the progress of the country, emphasizing that “when women rise, Nigeria rises.”
