Oluremi Tinubu Insists Books Remain Vital Despite Technology at Global Summit in Washington

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the importance of books in education, stating that they cannot be replaced by technology, even as the world embraces digital learning tools.

Nigeria’s First Lady made this assertion during a high-level engagement with Charles Harder on the sidelines of the Fostering the Future Together Global Summit hosted by Melania Trump in Washington, United States.

Speaking at the meeting, Senator Tinubu emphasized that reading books plays a crucial role in broadening children’s knowledge without the distractions often associated with social media and other digital platforms. She stressed that education remains a top priority under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“If you want to help people, you must first understand who they really are. My husband understands this from his days as Governor of Lagos State. He is working to sanitize the system and lay a solid foundation for sustainable development,” she said.

The First Lady also disclosed plans to launch a nationwide campaign on child nutrition through her office in the coming days, underscoring her commitment to the welfare and development of Nigerian children.

In his remarks, Charles Harder noted that the engagement aimed to deepen discussions around the needs and challenges facing Nigerian children. He explained that the Best Future Generations initiative, spearheaded by Melania Trump, focuses on addressing critical issues affecting children globally, including food security, healthcare, protection from abuse, and overall well-being.

The meeting took place during the global summit, which brought together over 45 First Ladies from across the world to deliberate on pressing issues affecting children and adolescents, particularly the growing impact of artificial intelligence on younger generations.
