World Health Day 2026: First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Advocates Science-Driven Health Solutions, Global Collaboration
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for strengthened global collaboration and sustained investment in science and healthcare systems to advance public health outcomes.
In her message to commemorate World Health Day 2026, observed annually on April 7, the First Lady emphasize on the critical role of science and innovation in addressing health challenges and improving quality of life worldwide.
Referencing this year’s theme, “Together for Health. Stand with Science,” Tinubu noted that progress in healthcare depends largely on strong partnerships across nations and sectors. She emphasized that scientific cooperation has historically enabled humanity to overcome major health threats and remains essential in promoting healthier living.
The First Lady also highlighted the relevance of the One Health approach, which recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. According to her, adopting this integrated framework is vital in addressing emerging health risks and ensuring sustainable wellbeing.
She urged governments, institutions, and individuals to continue supporting scientific research, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, and fostering collaboration to build resilient health systems.
Tinubu further called on the global community to remain united in the pursuit of better health outcomes, stressing that collective action is key to achieving a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
